At EMS
we handle a broad spectrum of internal medicine cases. Some of the more
common presentations we see include (but are not limited to) diarrhea, acute
laminitis, fever of unknown origin, colic, coughing, nasal discharge, and
weight loss. We offers a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic
tools to help your horse get well again. Please read below for a more
detail about what we offer for internal medicine cases.
-
Diagnostic tools:
1- and 3-meter videoscopes Our videoscopes are used to visualize internal structures, such as the sinuses, trachea, lungs, esophagus, and stomach. This helps the doctors in the diagnosis of multiple conditions such as gastric ulcers and guttoral pouch infections. The videoscope projects the image onto a TV so you can see the inside of your horse!
In-house laboratory for
CBC, serum biochemistry, fibrinogen assay, and iSTAT The laboratory at our clinic allows us obtain results of blood tests in less than an hour, which can aid in the rapid diagnosis and treatment of disease in your horse. We run complete blood and serum chemistry panels, electrolyte analysis, and foal IgG tests.
Digital ultrasonography
and radiography Digital technology enables us to visualize detail and obtain quality images rapidly. These tools can assist in diagnosis of pneumonia, colic, and much more.
