Our haul-in facility allows for horses needing critical care to receive timely and effective treatment. It also allows for quick access to diagnostic tools, such as ultrasound, radiographs, and bloodwork. We encourage various types of procedures to be performed at the clinic for the safety of your horse and our staff. Some of these include stallion collection, gastroscopy, and certain surgical procedures. Additionally, we encourage horses needing intensive care stay at the hospital in order to receive IV fluids and monitoring overnight.
We have three large stalls, one of which may be subdivided for
mare/foal use. The stalls are equipped for IV fluid delivery and can
be set up for isolation cases (diarrhea or respiratory disease). Additionally, there is a set of stocks used for palpation, gastroscopy, and various other procedures. A "phantom" or "breeding dummy" is available for stallion collection and training young stallions for semen collection.
There are several turnout paddocks with run-in sheds available for horses on our property. Mares and/or stallions staying at the hospital for breeding may be housed in these paddocks. Other patients may be turned out in the paddocks for daily exercise.
Diagnostic Capabilities
1- and 3-meter videoscopes
Our videoscopes are used to visualize internal structures, such as the
sinuses, trachea, lungs, esophagus, and stomach. This helps the
doctors in the diagnosis of multiple conditions such as gastric ulcers
and guttoral pouch infections. The videoscope projects the image onto
a TV so you can see the inside of your horse!
In-house laboratory for
CBC, serum biochemistry, fibrinogen assay, and iSTAT The
laboratory at our clinic allows us obtain results of blood tests in
less than an hour, which can aid in the rapid diagnosis and treatment
of disease in your horse. We run complete blood and serum chemistry
panels, electrolyte analysis, and foal IgG tests.
Digital ultrasonography
and radiography Digital
technology enables us to visualize detail and obtain quality images
rapidly. These tools can assist in diagnosis of pneumonia, colic, and
much more.
